Character Bio—King Gregory Donovan Gildresleve of Demarde

Ah, Gregory. What can I say? He’s a delightfully complex villain who gauges his decisions based on his own moral compass, which, unfortunately, is slightly askew.

To ask him, he’s merely a man making the best decisions in tough circumstances. To his friends he is the best, most faithful, most loyal. To his enemies he is the most ruthless, cunning, and hateful.

But that doesn’t mean you’d want to be his friend.

Gregory is 40 years old when we meet him in The Peasant Queen. He is roughly 6’1” and 185 (or so) lbs. The muscle around his middle is giving way to fat, though he is far from being portly. Despite his hardness, he is remarkably handsome with soot black hair and the trademark Gildresleve green eyes. He wears a goatee, considered fashionable in his time, and dresses in the finest clothes.

Don’t let his appearance fool you. Gregory is deadly with a sword.

He had a tragic childhood that did much to contribute to the man he has become. One could speculate, had his childhood been normal, perhaps his power lust could have been tapered, or at least relegated to his own kingdom. But we’ll never really know. One thing is certain. Gregory is absolute in all his pursuits, so when he sets his eyes on Krystal it is all or nothing.
