My Dream Cast
What author hasn’t dreamed of their book being turned into a
movie? I certainly have! As writers we dream, and what’s fun about dreaming is
we can cast any actor we want. I have three main characters in my books so I’ll
focus just on them.
Gladamyr—the Dream
Keeper, is a reformed nightmare trying to save the world of Dreams from the return
of the most evil nightmare to ever exist: Mares. Gladamyr is a shape shifter
and can pretty much shift into whatever thing he wants. He prefers to look like
a human—except he has purple skin and hair. While I wrote the first book I always
imagined Nicholas Cage as him. However, since I have had the opportunity to
listen to the audiobook of The Dream
Keeper, I have to cast Anthony Bianco, professional actor and narrator of
the audiobook, as the role of Gladamyr. He is much younger, better looking, and
has Gladamyr’s voice down perfectly.
Parker is a
14-year-old gamer who is struggling to stay popular. Right now he’s got it made
but when fate teams him up with the biggest loser in school to save the world,
his priorities gets turned upside down. Parker was actually a real person I
knew. I took everything about Parker from the main source. If I chose an actor,
probably Gabriel Basso would do a good job. He certainly has the looks and the mannerisms
for him.
Kaelyn has been
tagged the biggest loser in junior high by a band of mean girls set on destroying
her image. In reality, Kaelyn is the coolest kid in the school; just nobody
knows it. That is until she gets teamed up with Parker to save the world from
nightmares. Kaelyn is a conglomerate of two women I admire: my wife and my
sister. She is smart, beautiful, and probably the bravest in the book. I think
Elle Fanning would make a perfect Kaelyn. She has the strong charisma that is
needed, but she can also seem small at the same time.
So there is my dream cast. What out Hollywood here I come!!

AUTHOR BIO:
Mikey Brooks is a small child
masquerading as an adult. On occasion you’ll catch him dancing the funky
chicken, singing like a banshee, and pretending to have never grown up. He is
the author/illustrator of several books including the best-selling ABC
ADVENTURES: MAGICAL CREATURES and BEAN’S
DRAGONS as well as the middle-grade fantasy-adventure series THE
DREAM KEEPER CHRONICLES. His art can be seen in many forms from picture
books to full room murals. He loves to daydream with his three daughters and
explore the worlds that only the imagination of children can create. Mikey has
a BS degree in English from Utah State University and works full-time as a
freelance illustrator and cover designer. As a member of the Emblazoners,
he is one of many authors devoted to ‘writing stories on the hearts of
children’. He is also one of the hosts of the Authors’
